अंग्रेज़ी में press + work से बना शब्द; पहले छापाखाने/प्रिंटिंग प्रेस के काम के लिए प्रचलित हुआ और बाद में निर्माण व शिल्प में ‘दबाने/प्रेस करने’ वाली प्रक्रियाओं के अर्थ में भी प्रयुक्त होने लगा।
Definition
Presswork refers mainly to (1) the operation or work of a printing press and (2) the printed output produced; in specialized contexts it can also mean work made by pressing with dies/presses (metalwork), cross-grained veneered panels made under heat/pressure (cabinet-making), or pottery formed by pressing clay into moulds.
'प्रेसवर्क' का मुख्य अर्थ (1) छापाखाने/प्रिंटिंग प्रेस का संचालन या उससे संबंधित काम और (2) उससे तैयार छपा हुआ सामग्री होता है; विशेष संदर्भों में यह डाइ/प्रेस से दबाकर बनाया गया काम (धातुकर्म), गर्मी/दबाव व गोंद से जोड़ी गई क्रॉस-ग्रेन वेनियर वाली शीट/पैनल (कैबिनेट-निर्माण), या साँचे में मिट्टी दबाकर बनाई गई मृद्भांड/कुम्हारी वस्तुएँ भी हो सकती हैं।
