Definition
Pounding can mean repeatedly hitting or hammering something with force (e.g., pounding a door, pounding spices), crushing/grinding into smaller pieces, or the strong rhythmic beating of the heart/head (a pounding heart/headache). In informal speech it can also mean consuming a drink quickly (“pound a beer”), and in baseball it can mean throwing pitches to the same spot repeatedly.
