Definition
Pools can mean multiple things: (1) small bodies of water (natural or artificial), including swimming pools; (2) a shared supply of resources or people available for use (a pool of candidates); (3) money or stakes combined for a game, venture, or shared risk; (4) the cue sport played on a pool table; and as a verb, to pool means to combine resources into one common fund.
