From policy + making; policy (from French politique, ultimately from Greek politika ‘affairs of the city/state’) + making (Old English macian ‘to make’). The compound is common in modern public-administration vocabulary (20th century onward).
यह शब्द policy + making से बना है; policy (फ़्रांसीसी politique से, जो अंततः यूनानी politika ‘नगर/राज्य के कार्य’ से) + making (पुरानी अंग्रेज़ी macian ‘बनाना’)। यह संयुक्त शब्द आधुनिक सार्वजनिक प्रशासन की शब्दावली में (मुख्यतः 20वीं शताब्दी से) प्रचलित हुआ।
Definition
Policymaking is the process of identifying a problem, setting goals, weighing options, consulting stakeholders, deciding on a course of action, and implementing and evaluating policies—often in government, public administration, or large organizations.
नीति-निर्माण वह प्रक्रिया है जिसमें किसी समस्या की पहचान, लक्ष्य तय करना, विकल्पों का आकलन, हितधारकों से परामर्श, कार्ययोजना/निर्णय लेना तथा नीतियों का कार्यान्वयन और मूल्यांकन शामिल होता है—अक्सर सरकार, सार्वजनिक प्रशासन या बड़े संगठनों में।
