From French polarisation, based on polariser and pole, ultimately from Latin polus and Greek pólos (“axis; pivot”).

Definition
Polarisation is the process or condition in which something develops two opposite poles or directions—physically (like polarized light where the electric field oscillates in a particular direction), electrically/chemically (separation of positive and negative charges), or socially (opinions splitting into two extreme camps).
पोलराइज़ेशन/ध्रुवीकरण वह प्रक्रिया या अवस्था है जिसमें किसी चीज़ में दो विपरीत ध्रुव या दिशाएँ बन जाती हैं—भौतिकी में (जैसे ध्रुवित प्रकाश, जहाँ विद्युत क्षेत्र एक विशेष दिशा में दोलन करता है), विद्युत/रसायन में (धनात्मक और ऋणात्मक आवेशों का पृथक्करण), या समाज में (विचारों का दो चरम खेमों में बँट जाना)।
