1960 के दशक में picture + element के मिश्रण से बना शब्द; बाद में संक्षिप्त होकर pixel हुआ और डिजिटल इमेजिंग व कंप्यूटिंग में व्यापक रूप से प्रचलित हुआ।
Definition
A pixel (picture element) is the smallest addressable unit in a digital image or screen display; many pixels arranged in a grid form pictures, and each pixel stores color/brightness information.
पिक्सेल (चित्र तत्व) डिजिटल छवि या स्क्रीन डिस्प्ले की सबसे छोटी पहचाने योग्य इकाई है; ग्रिड में सजे अनेक पिक्सेल मिलकर तस्वीर बनाते हैं, और प्रत्येक पिक्सेल रंग/चमक की जानकारी रखता है।
