Origin & History
From pipe + line; originally referring to a line of pipes for conveying liquids or gases (recorded in the 19th century), later extended metaphorically to mean a sequence of stages.
'pipe' + 'line' से बना शब्द; मूल रूप से 19वीं सदी में तरल/गैस को ले जाने वाली पाइपों की पंक्ति/व्यवस्था के लिए प्रयुक्त हुआ, बाद में रूपक रूप में चरणबद्ध प्रक्रिया या क्रम के अर्थ में भी इस्तेमाल होने लगा।
Definition
A pipeline is (1) a long connected set of pipes used to carry oil, gas, or water from one place to another, and (2) a figurative term for an organized sequence of stages that moves items forward (such as a software build pipeline, a sales pipeline, or a hiring pipeline).
पाइपलाइन (1) जुड़ी हुई लंबी पाइपों की व्यवस्था है जिससे तेल, गैस या पानी को एक स्थान से दूसरे स्थान तक पहुँचाया जाता है, और (2) रूपक रूप में चरणबद्ध प्रक्रिया/चैनल को कहते हैं जिसमें काम, डेटा या उम्मीदवार आदि एक चरण से अगले चरण तक आगे बढ़ते हैं (जैसे सॉफ़्टवेयर बिल्ड पाइपलाइन, सेल्स पाइपलाइन, हायरिंग पाइपलाइन)।
