Origin & History
From German Photon (coined in the early 20th century), based on Greek phōs/phōt- ‘light’ + the scientific suffix -on used for particles.
जर्मन ‘Photon’ (20वीं सदी की शुरुआत में गढ़ा गया) से; जिसका आधार यूनानी ‘phōs/phōt-’ (अर्थ: प्रकाश) तथा कणों के लिए प्रयुक्त वैज्ञानिक प्रत्यय ‘-on’ है।
Definition
Photons are the basic quanta of light and other electromagnetic radiation, carrying energy and momentum; they show both wave-like and particle-like behavior in quantum physics.
फोटॉन प्रकाश तथा अन्य विद्युत-चुंबकीय विकिरण के मूल क्वांटम (ऊर्जा के सूक्ष्म पैकेट) होते हैं; ये ऊर्जा और संवेग वहन करते हैं तथा क्वांटम भौतिकी में तरंग और कण दोनों जैसा व्यवहार दिखाते हैं।
