From Greek pathos (“suffering, disease”) + -logia (“study”), via New Latin pathologia.
ग्रीक शब्द pathos (अर्थ: पीड़ा/रोग) और -logia (अर्थ: अध्ययन) से बना, जो न्यू लैटिन pathologia के माध्यम से अंग्रेज़ी में आया।
Definition
Pathology is the medical specialty and scientific study concerned with diagnosing disease by examining organs, tissues, cells, and bodily fluids, and with understanding the causes (etiology) and mechanisms of disease.
पैथोलॉजी (रोग-विज्ञान) चिकित्सा की वह विशेषता और वैज्ञानिक अध्ययन है जिसमें अंगों, ऊतकों, कोशिकाओं और शारीरिक द्रवों की जाँच करके रोग का निदान किया जाता है तथा रोग के कारण (एटियोलॉजी) और उसकी कार्यविधि/तंत्र (मेकैनिज़्म) को समझा जाता है।
