Definition
An ovum is the mature female gamete produced by the ovaries; when it is fertilized by a sperm, it forms a zygote that can develop into an embryo. In biology, the term can also be used more broadly for an egg cell/egg at an early developmental stage.
ओवम (अंडाणु) स्त्री जनन कोशिका (एग सेल) है जो अंडाशय में बनती है; शुक्राणु द्वारा निषेचन होने पर यह युग्मनज (ज़ाइगोट) बनाती है और आगे भ्रूण में विकसित हो सकती है। जीवविज्ञान में यह शब्द कभी-कभी प्रारम्भिक विकास अवस्था के अंडे/अंड कोशिका के लिए भी व्यापक रूप से प्रयुक्त होता है।
