From Latin ovatus ‘egg-shaped’ (from ovum ‘egg’) + modern Latin lanceolatus ‘lance-shaped’ (from lancea ‘lance’), combined as a botanical compound adjective.
लैटिन ovatus ‘अंडाकार/अंडे-सा’ (ovum ‘अंडा’ से) + आधुनिक लैटिन lanceolatus ‘भाले-सा/भालाकार’ (lancea ‘भाला’ से) का वनस्पति-विज्ञान में संयुक्त विशेषण रूप।

In botany, describing a leaf (or similar organ) that is broader toward the base like an ovate shape but tapers and elongates toward the tip like a lanceolate shape.
