Definition
In heraldry, an orle is a border following the outline of a shield but set in from the edge; it can also mean the wreath (torse) around a helmet that supports the crest, and in architecture it may refer to a small fillet beneath the ovolo of a capital.
हेरल्ड्री में ‘orle’ ढाल की बाहरी किनारी को छुए बिना, किनारे से भीतर की ओर चलने वाली आंतरिक बॉर्डर/पट्टी को कहते हैं; यह शूरवीर के हेलमेट के चारों ओर लगी ‘wreath/torse’ (कलगी को थामने वाली मरोड़दार पट्टी) के लिए भी प्रयुक्त होता है, और वास्तुकला में स्तंभ-मुण्ड (capital) के ovolo के नीचे की पतली पट्टी (fillet) के अर्थ में भी आता है।
