Definition
Onomastics is the branch of linguistics that investigates proper names (such as personal names, place names, and brand names), focusing on their origin, meaning, historical development, pronunciation, spelling, and social/cultural use.
ऑनोमैस्टिक्स भाषाविज्ञान की वह शाखा है जो व्यक्तिनाम, स्थाननाम, और अन्य विशेष नामों (जैसे ब्रांड नाम) का अध्ययन करती है—उनकी उत्पत्ति, अर्थ, ऐतिहासिक विकास, उच्चारण, वर्तनी तथा सामाजिक-सांस्कृतिक प्रयोग के संदर्भ में।
