From Okapi (the animal name), borrowed from a Congolese language (often traced to Lese/Mbuba), adopted into European languages in the early 20th century; “okapis” is the English plural.
‘ओकापी’ नाम से; यह कांगो क्षेत्र की एक भाषा (अक्सर लेसे/एम्बुबा से जोड़ा जाता है) से उधार लिया गया और 20वीं सदी की शुरुआत में यूरोपीय भाषाओं में प्रचलित हुआ; ‘okapis’ इसका अंग्रेज़ी बहुवचन रूप है।
Definition
Okapis are rare, solitary mammals native to the rainforests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo; they are closely related to giraffes and are known for their reddish-brown coat and zebra-like striped legs.
ओकापी दुर्लभ, एकाकी स्तनधारी हैं जो कांगो लोकतांत्रिक गणराज्य के वर्षावनों में पाए जाते हैं; ये जिराफ़ के निकट संबंधी हैं और अपने लाल-भूरे रोएँ तथा पैरों पर ज़ेबरा जैसी धारियों के लिए जाने जाते हैं।
