Definition
Norepinephrine is a neurotransmitter in the brain and a hormone in the body, synthesized from dopamine, especially associated with the locus coeruleus; it influences wakefulness, focus, mood, and the “fight-or-flight” response, and clinically it may be given to support blood pressure in shock.
