Formed from non- (“not”) + graphitic (“relating to graphite”), from graphite (named in 1789 from Greek graphein “to write”, via the use of graphite in writing).
non- (“नहीं/अ-”) + graphitic (“ग्रेफाइट से संबंधित”) से बना शब्द; graphitic का मूल graphite है (जिसका नाम 1789 में यूनानी graphein “लिखना” से जुड़ा माना जाता है, क्योंकि ग्रेफाइट लेखन में उपयोग होता था)।
Definition
Describes a material (especially carbon) that is not in a graphite-like crystalline form and therefore lacks typical graphite properties such as layered structure, easy cleavage, and high in-plane electrical conductivity.
यह ऐसे पदार्थ (विशेषकर कार्बन) का वर्णन करता है जो ग्रेफाइट जैसी स्फटिकी (क्रिस्टलीय) संरचना में नहीं होता, इसलिए इसमें ग्रेफाइट के सामान्य गुण—परतदार संरचना, आसानी से परतों में टूटना, तथा समतल दिशा में उच्च विद्युत चालकता—नहीं होते।
