यह आधुनिक अंग्रेज़ी का संयुक्त शब्द है: non- (अर्थ: “नहीं/रहित”) + iron (अर्थ: इस्त्री करना), जिसका प्रयोग 20वीं सदी के मध्य–अंत में कपड़ों और टेक्सटाइल मार्केटिंग में लोकप्रिय हुआ।
Definition
Non-iron describes clothing or fabric treated or manufactured so it stays relatively wrinkle-free and does not need ironing after laundering.
नॉन-आयरन ऐसे कपड़ों/कपड़े के लिए कहा जाता है जिसे विशेष रूप से इस तरह बनाया या ट्रीट किया जाता है कि धोने और सुखाने के बाद कम सिलवटें पड़ें और आम तौर पर इस्त्री करने की जरूरत न हो।
