मध्ययुगीन लैटिन nominalista से; लैटिन nomen (“नाम”) से, तथा nominalis (“नाम से संबंधित”) पर आधारित रूप।
Definition
A nominalist is a philosopher (or thinker) who argues that general terms like “beauty,” “redness,” or “humanity” are only names we use to group similar things, and that only individual, particular things truly exist.
नामवाद (Nominalism) का समर्थक/अनुयायी वह दार्शनिक (या विचारक) होता है जो मानता है कि “सुंदरता”, “लालिमा”, या “मानवता” जैसे सामान्य/सार्वभौमिक विचार केवल वस्तुओं को समूहित करने के लिए दिए गए नाम हैं; वास्तविक अस्तित्व केवल विशिष्ट, व्यक्तिगत वस्तुओं का होता है।
