From New Latin Nematomorpha: nemato- ‘thread’ (from Greek nēma ‘thread’) + -morpha ‘form’ (from Greek morphē ‘shape’).
नव-लैटिन Nematomorpha से: nemato- ‘धागा’ (ग्रीक nēma ‘धागा’) + -morpha ‘रूप/आकृति’ (ग्रीक morphē ‘आकार/आकृति’)।
Definition
Nematomorpha is a phylum of slender, threadlike worms (horsehair worms). Their larvae develop as parasites inside arthropods (especially insects like crickets and grasshoppers), and the mature worms typically live free in freshwater.
नेमाटोमॉर्फा पतले, धागे जैसे कृमियों (हॉर्सहैर वर्म/घोड़े के बाल जैसे कृमि) का एक संघ (फाइलम) है। इनके लार्वा आर्थ्रोपोड (विशेषकर झींगुर, टिड्डे जैसे कीट) के शरीर के भीतर परजीवी के रूप में विकसित होते हैं, जबकि वयस्क कृमि प्रायः मीठे पानी में स्वतंत्र रूप से रहते हैं।
