From modern Latin Micronesia, coined in the 19th century from Greek mikrós (“small”) + nêsos (“island”), literally “small islands.”
आधुनिक लैटिन ‘Micronesia’ से, 19वीं शताब्दी में ग्रीक ‘mikrós’ (छोटा) + ‘nêsos’ (द्वीप) से गढ़ा गया, शाब्दिक अर्थ: “छोटे द्वीप।”
Definition
Micronesia is a cultural and geographic region of the Pacific Ocean consisting of numerous small islands and atolls; it is also used in country names such as the Federated States of Micronesia.
माइक्रोनेशिया प्रशांत महासागर का एक सांस्कृतिक और भौगोलिक क्षेत्र है, जिसमें अनेक छोटे द्वीप और प्रवाल द्वीप (एटोल) शामिल हैं; यह शब्द ‘फेडरेटेड स्टेट्स ऑफ माइक्रोनेशिया’ जैसे देश-नामों में भी प्रयुक्त होता है।
