माइक्रोकैप्सूल एक बहुत छोटा कैप्सूल होता है जिसकी पतली बाहरी परत किसी सक्रिय पदार्थ को सुरक्षित रखती है और उसे तय समय पर या विशेष परिस्थितियों (जैसे दबाव, ताप, pH, या पाचन) में टूटकर/घुलकर बाहर छोड़ती है।
