Origin & History
From mail + box; mail comes via Middle English from Old French 'male' (bag) and ultimately a Germanic source; box is from Old English 'box' (container, boxwood).
'मेल' + 'बॉक्स' से बना शब्द; 'मेल' मध्य अंग्रेज़ी के माध्यम से पुरानी फ़्रेंच 'male' (थैला) और अंततः जर्मनिक स्रोत से आया, और 'बॉक्स' पुरानी अंग्रेज़ी 'box' (डिब्बा/बॉक्सवुड) से।
Definition
Mailboxes are containers or locked boxes where postal workers deliver letters and small parcels; in computing, the term can also mean a place where email messages are received (an inbox).
मेलबॉक्स ऐसे कंटेनर या ताले लगे डिब्बे होते हैं जिनमें डाककर्मी पत्र और छोटे पार्सल डालते हैं; कंप्यूटिंग में यह शब्द ईमेल संदेश प्राप्त होने की जगह (इनबॉक्स) के लिए भी प्रयोग होता है।
