Definition

Leeward describes the side of a ship, coast, hill, or any object that is protected from the wind (downwind), opposite of windward. It can be used as an adjective (“the leeward side”) or as an adverb (“to drift leeward”).

Leeward उस तरफ़/दिशा को कहते हैं जो हवा से बची हुई (डाउनविंड) होती है—जहाँ हवा सीधे नहीं लगती। यह windward (हवामुखी) के विपरीत है। इसे विशेषण की तरह (“leeward side”) और क्रिया-विशेषण की तरह (“drift leeward”) दोनों रूपों में प्रयोग किया जा सकता है।
