यह “knock off” (जल्दी-जल्दी बना लेना; नकल करना/अनुकरण करना) क्रिया-समूह से निकला है; 20वीं शताब्दी में इसे संज्ञा के रूप में नकली/अनुकरणीय उत्पाद के अर्थ में प्रयोग किया जाने लगा।
Definition
Knockoffs are products made to look like a well-known brand or original item, usually sold at a lower price and often of lower quality; they may be legal look-alikes or illegal counterfeits depending on trademark and design laws.
नॉकऑफ़ वे उत्पाद होते हैं जो किसी प्रसिद्ध ब्रांड या मूल वस्तु जैसे दिखने के लिए बनाए जाते हैं; ये आमतौर पर कम कीमत पर बिकते हैं और अक्सर गुणवत्ता में कम होते हैं—ट्रेडमार्क/डिज़ाइन क़ानूनों के अनुसार ये कभी वैध ‘लुक-अलाइक’ हो सकते हैं और कभी अवैध नकली (काउंटरफिट) भी।
