Definition
A "jinx" is (1) a curse or magical spell thought to cause misfortune, (2) someone/something believed to bring bad luck, or (3) as a verb, to bring bad luck to something—often by talking about a hoped-for outcome too soon (“Don’t jinx it!”). It is also used as an interjection when two people say the same thing simultaneously.
