From Persian Īrān (ایران) meaning “land of the Aryans,” related to Middle Persian Ērān; in English usage historically contrasted with the older Western name “Persia.”
फ़ारसी ‘ईरान’ (ایران) से, जिसका अर्थ “आर्यों की भूमि” माना जाता है; यह मध्य फ़ारसी ‘एरान/ईरान’ (Ērān) से संबंधित है। अंग्रेज़ी में इसका प्रयोग ऐतिहासिक रूप से पुराने पश्चिमी नाम ‘पर्शिया’ (Persia) के साथ तुलना में मिलता है।

Iran is a sovereign nation in Western Asia, bordered by countries such as Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, with coastlines on the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf; its capital is Tehran and it has a long Persian cultural and historical heritage.
ईरान पश्चिमी एशिया में स्थित एक संप्रभु देश है, जिसकी सीमाएँ इराक, तुर्की, अफ़ग़ानिस्तान और पाकिस्तान आदि से लगती हैं; इसके तट कैस्पियन सागर और फ़ारस की खाड़ी से जुड़े हैं। इसकी राजधानी तेहरान है और इसकी संस्कृति व इतिहास का संबंध प्राचीन फ़ारसी विरासत से है।
