I.R.A. is an initialism used for different organizations/terms; most widely it means the Irish Republican Army, a group associated with Irish republicanism and armed campaigns in the 20th century, but in American usage it can also mean an Individual Retirement Account or be used informally for the Internal Revenue Service.
