From Latin “ipse dixit” (“he himself said it”), used of unproved assertions resting on an authority (classically associated with Pythagoras’ followers), plus the English suffix “-ism.”

Definition
Ipsedixitism is the habit or principle of treating an authority’s statement as proof, without demanding evidence, reasoning, or verification. It often appears in dogmatic argumentation where disagreement is dismissed by citing a person’s status rather than facts.
इप्सेडिक्सिटिज़्म वह प्रवृत्ति/सिद्धांत है जिसमें किसी दावे को केवल इसलिए सत्य मान लिया जाता है क्योंकि उसे किसी “प्राधिकृत” व्यक्ति ने कहा है; इसमें प्रमाण, तर्क या जाँच-पड़ताल की माँग नहीं की जाती। यह अक्सर मताग्रही बहस में दिखता है जहाँ तथ्य की बजाय व्यक्ति की प्रतिष्ठा का हवाला देकर असहमति को खारिज कर दिया जाता है।
