From French iode (from Greek ioeidēs ‘violet-coloured’), with -ine; named for the violet vapor of the element.
फ्रेंच iode से (ग्रीक ioeidēs ‘बैंगनी/जामुनी रंग का’ से), बाद में -ine प्रत्यय जुड़ा; तत्व के बैंगनी वाष्प के कारण यह नाम पड़ा।
Definition
Iodine is a halogen chemical element (symbol I) essential in small amounts for thyroid function; it is also used in antiseptic solutions and exists in salts called iodides.
आयोडीन एक हैलोजन रासायनिक तत्व (चिह्न I) है, जो थायरॉयड के सही काम के लिए थोड़ी मात्रा में आवश्यक होता है; इसे एंटीसेप्टिक घोलों में भी इस्तेमाल किया जाता है और यह आयोडाइड कहलाने वाले लवणों/यौगिकों के रूप में भी मिलता है।
