From Inuktitut (Inuit languages), inuksuk (often spelled inukshuk in English), meaning “something that acts in the capacity of a person” or “something that performs the function of a human.”

Definition
An inukshuk is a stacked-stone structure, often arranged to look like a human figure, traditionally built by Inuit communities in the Arctic to serve as a landmark—guiding travelers, marking routes or hunting areas, indicating safe passages, or communicating information.
