Definition
An ingot is a solid, often bar-shaped block of relatively pure metal (such as gold, silver, iron, or aluminum) made by casting molten metal in a mold and cooling it; it is used for storage, transport, or later processing (rolling, forging, machining). As a verb, to ingot means to cast scraps or molten metal into ingots.
