From Latin inflectere (“to bend, turn, change”), from in- (“in”) + flectere (“to bend”); the English agentive suffix -or forms inflector (“one/that which inflects”).
लैटिन inflectere (“मोड़ना/घुमाना/परिवर्तित करना”) से, जो in- (“अंदर/में”) + flectere (“मोड़ना”) से बना है; अंग्रेज़ी का कर्ता-वाचक प्रत्यय -or जोड़कर inflector बना, अर्थ: “जो/जो वस्तु रूप या दिशा बदलाए।”
Definition
An inflector is something that causes a change in form or direction: (1) in linguistics/grammar, a morpheme or mechanism that adds inflection (e.g., -s, -ed) to show tense, number, case, etc.; (2) in engineering, a part (such as a vane or plate) that deflects or redirects a stream of air, fluid, or light.
इन्फ्लेक्टर वह व्यक्ति/वस्तु है जो रूप या दिशा में परिवर्तन कराए: (1) भाषाविज्ञान/व्याकरण में, वह रूपिम या तंत्र जो शब्दों में विभक्ति/रूप-परिवर्तन (जैसे -s, -ed) जोड़कर काल, वचन, कारक आदि दर्शाता है; (2) अभियांत्रिकी में, कोई भाग (जैसे वैन या प्लेट) जो हवा/द्रव/प्रकाश की धारा को मोड़ता या दिशा बदलता है।
