यह indigenous + प्रत्यय -ity से बना है; मूलतः लैटिन indigena (“मूल निवासी/भूमि से उत्पन्न”) से संबंधित है।
Definition
The condition of being native to a particular place and identifying with (or belonging to) the original inhabitants of that land, often including cultural, historical, and political identity.
किसी विशेष स्थान का मूल निवासी होने की स्थिति तथा उस भूमि के आदिवासी/मूल निवासियों से (या उनके समुदाय से) जुड़ी पहचान/सदस्यता; इसमें सांस्कृतिक, ऐतिहासिक और राजनीतिक पहचान भी शामिल हो सकती है।
