From Greek eikonoklastēs ‘image-breaker’ (eikōn ‘image’ + klastēs ‘breaker’), used historically for those who opposed and destroyed religious icons; later broadened to mean anyone who attacks accepted beliefs.
यह शब्द ग्रीक eikonoklastēs ‘प्रतिमा/चित्र तोड़ने वाला’ (eikōn ‘प्रतिमा/चित्र’ + klastēs ‘तोड़ने वाला’) से आया है; पहले धार्मिक प्रतिमाओं का विरोध/विनाश करने वालों के लिए, बाद में व्यापक अर्थ में स्थापित मान्यताओं को चुनौती देने वालों के लिए प्रयुक्त होने लगा।

Iconoclastic describes a person, idea, or action that challenges and rejects accepted traditions, beliefs, or authorities, often in a bold or provocative way; historically it can also refer to the destruction of religious icons.
