यह hyper- (अर्थ: “अत्यधिक/हद से ज़्यादा”) + correctness से बना है; भाषाविज्ञान में भाषा-प्रयोग में होने वाली overcorrection (अतिसुधार) को बताने के लिए विशेष रूप से प्रयुक्त होता है।
Definition
Hypercorrectness is the tendency to “overcorrect” speech or writing, producing a nonstandard or wrong form because one tries too hard to sound correct or formal (often by applying a rule where it does not belong).
हाइपरकरेक्टनेस वह प्रवृत्ति है जिसमें व्यक्ति “ज़रूरत से ज़्यादा सुधार” करने की कोशिश में बोलचाल या लेखन में गलत/अमानक रूप बना देता है, क्योंकि वह अधिक सही या औपचारिक लगना चाहता है (अक्सर किसी नियम को गलत जगह लागू कर देता है)।
