Definition
A hydrant is a fixed outlet connected to a water main that provides quick access to water, most commonly used by firefighters to attach hoses and control water flow; it may also refer to a similar outlet for non-drinking (utility) water.
हाइड्रेंट मुख्य जल-आपूर्ति पाइपलाइन से जुड़ा एक स्थायी जल-निकास/वाल्व होता है, जिससे पानी तुरंत लिया जा सके; इसका उपयोग सबसे अधिक अग्निशमन में पाइप जोड़कर पानी के प्रवाह को नियंत्रित करने के लिए होता है, और कभी-कभी यह गैर-पीने योग्य (उपयोगिता) पानी के ऐसे ही निकास के लिए भी कहा जाता है।
