Houndsberry is a traditional/common name used in parts of Britain for certain plants, most often black bryony (Dioscorea communis), a climbing hedgerow plant with glossy, heart-shaped leaves and clusters of bright red berries; the berries are poisonous and the name may also be applied regionally to woody nightshade (Solanum dulcamara).
