From the phrasal verb “hook up” (hook + up), meaning ‘to connect’; later extended in informal American English to mean ‘meet up’ and then ‘engage in a casual sexual encounter’.
यह “hook up” (hook + up) क्रिया-समूह से बना है, जिसका मूल अर्थ ‘जोड़ना/कनेक्ट करना’ है; बाद में अनौपचारिक अमेरिकी अंग्रेज़ी में इसका अर्थ ‘मिलना’ और आगे चलकर ‘कैज़ुअल यौन मुलाक़ात/संबंध’ के लिए भी प्रयोग होने लगा।
Definition
“Hookup” most commonly means a connection or the act of connecting (especially for equipment, cables, utilities). In informal modern usage, it also means a casual, usually short-term sexual encounter/relationship, and sometimes it refers to the person involved as a ‘hookup’.
