Definition
Holly refers mainly to plants in the genus Ilex, usually evergreen shrubs or small trees with shiny, spiny-edged leaves and bright red berries, commonly used for Christmas decoration; it can also mean the wood of the holly tree, and sometimes other unrelated plants that look similar.
