Origin & History
As a skin condition, “hives” refers to urticaria (term from Latin “urtica” meaning nettle, because the rash resembles nettle stings). As “hive” meaning a beehouse comes from Old English “hyf” (a beehive).
त्वचा रोग के रूप में “hives” अर्टिकेरिया को दर्शाता है (यह शब्द लैटिन “urtica” से आया है, जिसका अर्थ बिछुआ/नेटल है, क्योंकि दाने बिछुआ के डंक जैसे लगते हैं)। “hive” का छत्ता वाला अर्थ पुरानी अंग्रेज़ी “hyf” (मधुमक्खी का छत्ता) से आया है।
Definition
“Hives” can mean (a) multiple beehives or a place full of busy activity, and (b) a medical condition with sudden itchy, raised red welts on the skin, often due to allergy, stress, infection, heat/cold, or medicines.
“Hives” का अर्थ (a) कई मधुमक्खी-छत्ते या बहुत व्यस्त जगह, और (b) त्वचा पर अचानक होने वाले खुजलीदार, उभरे हुए लाल दाने/चक्कत्ते (अर्टिकेरिया) भी होता है, जो अक्सर एलर्जी, तनाव, संक्रमण, गर्मी/ठंड या दवाओं से हो सकते हैं।
