hemo- (‘रक्त’) + lymph (‘लसिका’) से निर्मित; वैज्ञानिक लैटिन/आधुनिक वैज्ञानिक प्रयोग में बना शब्द।
Definition
Hemolymph is the fluid in insects and many other invertebrates that circulates through the body cavity, transporting nutrients, hormones, and immune factors; unlike vertebrate blood, it often does not carry much oxygen and flows in an open circulatory system.
हेमोलिम्फ (रक्तलसिका) कीटों और अनेक अन्य अकशेरुकी जीवों में पाया जाने वाला परिसंचारी द्रव है जो शरीर-गुहा में बहकर ऊतकों व अंगों को नहलाता है और पोषक तत्व, हार्मोन तथा प्रतिरक्षा-घटक पहुँचाता है; कशेरुकी रक्त के विपरीत यह प्रायः अधिक ऑक्सीजन नहीं ढोता और खुले परिसंचरण तंत्र में प्रवाहित होता है।
