Heat + proof से बना शब्द; यहाँ proof का अर्थ है 'के प्रति प्रतिरोधी/असर न होने वाला' (जैसे waterproof). आधुनिक अंग्रेज़ी में ऐसे पदार्थों के लिए बना जो गर्मी सह सकें।

Heatproof describes a material or object that can withstand high heat without burning, melting, deforming, or losing its function (often used for cookware, gloves, containers, or coatings).
Heatproof का अर्थ है ऐसा पदार्थ या वस्तु जो अधिक तापमान सह सके और आसानी से न जले, न पिघले, न बिगड़े, तथा अपना काम करना बंद न करे (अक्सर बर्तन, दस्ताने, डिब्बे या कोटिंग के लिए प्रयुक्त)।
