From Latin hallūcinātiō (later spelling allūcinātiō) ‘wandering of the mind; dreaming’, from hallūcinārī ‘to dream, to wander in mind’; entered English via learned/medical Latin and French.
लैटिन hallūcinātiō/ allūcinātiō ‘मन का भटकाव; स्वप्न-सा अनुभव’ तथा hallūcinārī ‘स्वप्न देखना/मन में भटकना’ से; अंग्रेज़ी में यह शब्द विद्वत/चिकित्सीय लैटिन और फ़्रेंच के माध्यम से आया।
Definition
A hallucination is a perception that seems real but is created by the mind—such as seeing figures, hearing voices, or feeling sensations when no external stimulus exists; it may occur in mental illness, drug intoxication/withdrawal, high fever, severe stress, or neurological disorders.
हैलुसिनेशन (मतिभ्रम) वह अनुभूति है जो वास्तविक लगती है लेकिन मन/मस्तिष्क द्वारा उत्पन्न होती है—जैसे बिना किसी बाहरी कारण के चीज़ें दिखाई देना, आवाज़ें सुनाई देना या स्पर्श/अनुभूति होना; यह मानसिक रोग, नशीले पदार्थों के सेवन/छुटने, तेज़ बुखार, अत्यधिक तनाव या तंत्रिका-तंत्र संबंधी विकारों में हो सकता है।
