Definition
Gut commonly means the intestine or belly; figuratively it means one’s deep feelings or instincts (a “gut feeling”). As a verb it can mean to remove the insides of an animal (gut a fish) or to destroy/remove the essential parts of something (gut a program). As an adjective it can mean made from animal intestine (gut strings) or instinctive (gut reaction).
