From Middle English gate (road, way; later also “door-gate”) + way, meaning “way through a gate; entrance.” Modern technical use developed in the 20th century for network access.
मध्य अंग्रेज़ी के gate (मार्ग/रास्ता; बाद में “द्वार/फाटक” के अर्थ में भी) + way से बना, मूल अर्थ “फाटक/द्वार से होकर जाने का रास्ता; प्रवेश” था। आधुनिक तकनीकी अर्थ 20वीं शताब्दी में नेटवर्क एक्सेस के लिए विकसित हुआ।

A gateway is an opening, gate, or entrance that allows people or things to pass into a place; figuratively, it is a means of entry to an opportunity, experience, or field; in computing, it is a device or service that connects two networks and controls/forwards traffic between them.
गेटवे वह द्वार, फाटक या प्रवेश-मार्ग है जिससे लोग या चीज़ें किसी स्थान में प्रवेश कर सकें; रूपक रूप में यह किसी अवसर, अनुभव या क्षेत्र में प्रवेश का साधन है; कंप्यूटिंग में यह ऐसा उपकरण/सेवा है जो दो नेटवर्कों को जोड़ता है और उनके बीच डेटा ट्रैफ़िक को नियंत्रित/अग्रेषित करता है।
