From gain + -ful; earlier senses in older English included ‘contentious/contrary’, but the modern common sense is ‘profitable’.
‘gain’ + ‘-ful’ से बना; पुराने अंग्रेज़ी में पहले ‘विरोधी/झगड़ालू’ जैसे अर्थ भी मिलते हैं, पर आधुनिक प्रचलित अर्थ ‘लाभ/कमाई देने वाला’ है।
