फ्रेंच foyer से, जिसका अर्थ “चूल्हा/घर; प्रवेश-प्रांगण” रहा; यह अंततः लैटिन focus (“चूल्हा/आगदान”) से निकला है।
Definition
A foyer is the entry area of a public building (like a theatre or hotel) where people wait, meet, or pass through; in technical use it can mean a furnace basin for molten metal; in UK usage it can also refer to a hostel supporting homeless young people.
फोयर किसी सार्वजनिक इमारत (जैसे थिएटर या होटल) का प्रवेश-प्रांगण/लॉबी होता है जहाँ लोग मिलने, इंतज़ार करने या अंदर जाने से पहले रुकते हैं; तकनीकी प्रयोग में यह भट्ठी में पिघली धातु लेने वाला बेसिन/क्रूसिबल भाग भी हो सकता है; यूके प्रयोग में यह बेघर युवाओं के लिए सहायता-युक्त आश्रय-गृह भी कहा जाता है।
