From Middle English, influenced by Middle French “flus/flux” meaning “flow,” related to Latin “fluxus” (a flowing). The sense “blush/redden” developed from the idea of a sudden rush (of blood).

“Flush” has several common senses: (1) to send water through a toilet or system to clean it; (2) to rinse or wash out something with water; (3) to make someone come out of hiding (“flush out”); (4) to become suddenly red (from heat, emotion, embarrassment); (5) a sudden rush/flow (of water, blood, excitement); (6) positioned level/flat (“flush with the surface”); (7) having plenty of money (“flush with cash”).
