From Latin ex- (“out”) + tradere (“to hand over, deliver”), via French/Latin legal usage; recorded in English in the late 19th century in the context of international law.
लैटिन ex- (“बाहर”) + tradere (“सौंपना/हस्तांतरित करना”) से, फ्रेंच/लैटिन विधिक प्रयोग के माध्यम से; अंग्रेज़ी में 19वीं सदी के उत्तरार्ध में अंतरराष्ट्रीय क़ानून के संदर्भ में प्रचलित हुआ।
Definition
To surrender an alleged or convicted offender to another jurisdiction (country/state) where the crime was committed, usually under an extradition treaty or court order.
किसी आरोपी या दोषी व्यक्ति को उस अन्य देश/राज्य/क्षेत्राधिकार को कानूनी प्रक्रिया (जैसे प्रत्यर्पण संधि या न्यायालय के आदेश) के तहत सौंपना, जहाँ अपराध हुआ हो, ताकि वहाँ मुकदमा चले या सज़ा दी जा सके।
