From New Latin epistaxis, from Greek epístaxis ‘a dripping, especially from the nose’, from epistázein ‘to drip upon’ (epi- ‘upon’ + stazein ‘to drip’).

Definition
Epistaxis is the medical term for bleeding from the nose, ranging from minor spotting to heavy bleeding, often caused by dry air, irritation, trauma, infection, or blood-thinning medicines.
